Welcome

Ever notice that the world is full of experts who have never actually done what they are "experts" at?

Many a business professor has never actually managed a business. Most business courses stress defining business terms but never actually teach the concepts of running a business.

This blog hopes to teach some of the terms and, at the same time, give some examples and lessons on running a business.

There will also be reviews of books on business listed here. Sometimes companies give me books to review. Regardless of where I get the book to review, I will give my honest opinion. If I was given the book to review I will always disclose that in the review.

I seek to start posting on 02 January 2012. Some of the posts will be recycled from some of my other blogs.

The reader should know that there is no one “Right Way” to conduct business that will apply in all situations. This blog is meant as a place to start. It is hoped that you will perform further research and consult professionals experienced in your particular business before making any important decisions.

A Contest

We would like to announce a contest on our blogs. Starting 01 January 2012, we will have a contest on our McClendon Villa, Random Thoughts by Suzanne, and Red Neck M.B.A. blogs.

Here is the way the contest works. We will be giving away a total of three $25 Amazon gift cards. One will be given away on the McClendon Villa Blog, one on Random Thoughts by Suzanne, and one on Red Neck MBA.

To enter any of these contests you must first register by sending your name, mailing address, e-mail address and whatever handle/user name you are signed up as for the blogs to Contest. Please include the name of the blog you are entering the contest for in the subject line.

You may enter all three contests if you wish.
For the McClendon Villa blog contest, you will receive one entry for signing up for the contest and one entry for following on any of our blogs linked to the McClendon Villa blog. You will also receive one entry for every comment/post you make on any of our blogs that are linked to McClendon Villa.

For the Random Thoughts by Suzanne blog and the Red Neck M.B.A. blog, you will receive one entry for being a follower of that blog and one entry for each comment made on the blog.
In order to qualify for the contest a comment must be at least 25 words long (as measured by MS Word) and contribute to the topic being discussed. Off topic comments or comments like “I agree” do not count.
On 31 January 2012 we will place identical slips of paper into a container with one entry listed on each slip of paper.  One of our family members will draw out a random slip. Whoever’s name is listed on that slip will win the gift card. In the event of a tie, all winning slips will be placed in a container and a winner will be drawn.

Each contest will be completed in like manner.

The judges of the contest will consist of David E. and Suzanne G. McClendon. The decision of the judges is final.
This contest is void wherever it is regulated and is only for legal residents of the United States of America. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. All taxes are the responsibility of the winner.

Privacy Notice: We will never use your information for anything other than this contest. After this contest has finished and the prizes have been awarded, all entry information will be destroyed. We will not sell, give away, or trade your entry information.

We will mail the gift cards within 30 days of the contest via first class mail. Please be sure you provide your correct mailing address. The handle/ user name of each winner will be posted on the prospective blog shortly after the winners have been determined.

In the event Amazon gift cards are not available at the time of the contest, gift cards of similar value for another company will be substituted at the discretion of the contest judges.
